PlayStation Plus is back on sale after Black Friday, but the deal is noticeably less significant than it was, and is only for those getting a new subscription (i.e. new members, or anyone with an expired PS Plus membership).
Select 12-month subscriptions are still 30% off, but this only applies to Extra and Premium, there are no upgrade or stackable discounts available for those who are already members at the Basic or Plus tiers, and there aren’t any additional PS Gift Card discounts as we’ve seen During Black Friday.
However, it’s still worth noting that the deal is valid, and will be available until the end of the day on December 17, so you have a limited time to take advantage of it if you’re interested.
Play season promotion
Save 30% on 12 months of PlayStation Plus
New subscriptions only. Additional and special levels.
- PlayStation Plus 12-Month Subscription: $94.49 (was $134.99)
- PlayStation Plus Premium 12-month subscription: $111.99 (was $159.99)
For full transparency, this PS deal started on December 11, but we initially missed it in the Seasons of Play sale ad — it looks like the deal was buried near the bottom of the article (or we’re still tired after Black Friday and ignoring it). The other notable big deal that has continued after Black Friday is the PS5 skinny bundles, which are priced at $499 and include a free game as well. Note: We have also received reports that some users were unable to access the PS Plus discount on the first try.
PlayStation Plus 2023 price hike: here are all the details
In case you didn’t know, Sony increased the annual cost of PS Plus globally in September 2023 by 30%. The new Play Season discount reverses this decision somewhat temporarily again after the same Black Friday deal a few weeks ago. If the previous price increase put you off, going back to the previous price could still be a good deal for any new PS5 owner over the holidays. Let us know your thoughts on the deal below.

What is PS Plus Premium and is it worth it?
Since summer 2022, PlayStation Plus has reinvented itself into a three-tier membership. Similar to the likes of a streaming subscription; For example, Netflix, Disney+, etc. The higher your subscription level, the more benefits you get along the way.
PS Plus Basic It’s the easiest to define, because it’s what PS Plus has always been. Essential offers access to online play, cloud saving, two free games per month, and discounts on the PS Store.
Move to a higher level, to PS Plus Extrayou’ll get new PS4 and PS5 games every month, along with a ton of PlayStation content already available (about 400 games), and everything PS Plus Essential has to offer.
If you choose the more expensive plan, PS Plus Premiumyou’ll have additional access to PS1, PS2, PSP and PS3 titles, as well as everything the extra and base tiers have to offer.
In summary; Interested in playing more PS4 and PS5 games? Aim for the extra layer. Feeling nostalgic? Go all out on the premium class. Do you just want to play online? Choose basic; It’s that easy. Here’s an additional breakdown as well to make it easier to understand.
