Ron DeSantis' discussion of "discomfort" is broken down by a body language expert

Ron DeSantis showed “discomfort” during a Republican debate, a body language expert said.

The Republican governor of Florida participated in the fourth Republican Party debate on Wednesday in Alabama, along with former South Carolina governor and UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, former New Jersey governor Chris Christie and technology entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.

The debate, hosted by NewsNation, served as the last chance for the GOP candidates to face each other before the first Iowa caucus on January 15.

As with all three debates, Donald Trump, the front-runner in the contest, did not attend.

He said: “Immediately after Nikki Haley scored a point against DeSantis and Ramaswamy, Ron DeSantis adopted a modified fig leaf (genital guarding) configuration – indicating his emotional discomfort and emotional vulnerability at that moment.”

At the same time, he also said the Republican showed “chronic hypocrisy and deceit” by raising his forehead.

“Frequently scrunching up a raised forehead is the most common body language sign of chronic insincerity and deception,” he said. “There are few better examples of this behavior than Ron DeSantis.”

He said his “fake frown” was also “an indication of insincerity and a manipulative personality.”

Standing away from his podium, DeSantis projected a “lack of full engagement and emotional cognitive dissonance.”

Newsweek I reached out to DeSantis’ representatives via email for comment on this story.

During the discussion, DeSantis spoke about the dangers of fentanyl and called for building a border wall to prevent people from bringing the drug into the country.

“Drug cartels are invading our country and killing our citizens,” DeSantis said.

“Here’s the thing: If we had a wall across the southern border, which I support, this wouldn’t have happened. We need to build a wall across the southern border. I will do that,” he added.

He also criticized those who criticized his poll performance.

“I’m tired of hearing about those polls,” he said during his opening remarks, adding that he was the only candidate on the platform “willing to stand up and respond to what the left is doing in this country.”

According to the latest polls conducted by FiveThirtyEight, Trump leads in the Republican primaries with 59.6% of the vote. DeSantis comes in second with 12.6 percent, while Haley comes in third with 10.6 percent. Ramaswamy has 4.9 percent of the vote, while Christie has 2.7 percent.
