The latest edition of the USA Today College Basketball Coaches Poll Top 25 rankings has been updated after an exciting week of college basketball

Of course, it’s still a new season, but some of the country’s top teams are starting to separate themselves from the pack. We’ve seen some great matchups so far, and that should continue into next week’s matches.

Let’s dive into the latest USA Today Coaches Poll rankings after Week 6 of the season. This is where each team stands at the moment.

In their first week as the best team in the country, Arizona took care of the business they had in front of them. The Wildcats defeated the Wisconsin Badgers handily, outscoring their Big Ten opponent by 25 points over the weekend.

Arizona won’t play again until Saturday, when they’ll face another formidable Big Ten opponent. The Wildcats will be looking for a win over the Purdue Boilermakers in the Indy Classic, in what should be a great game.

Kansas went 2-0 last week, as they continue to prove they are among the best teams in the country. The Jayhawks first defeated Kansas City, then took care of business against the Missouri Tigers in a heated matchup.

Now, Kansas will enjoy a week until its next game, which comes Saturday afternoon against Indiana. It should be another great matchup, but the Jayhawks will be looking for another big win over the Hoosiers.

Houston Cougars

Houston is 10-0 over the past week. The Cougars held Rice to 39 points last Wednesday, then took care of business against Jackson State on Saturday for double-digit wins.

Next up for the Cougars are the Texas A&M Aggies. This is arguably the toughest test of the season so far, and Houston will look to continue proving that it is among the best teams in the country by beating an SEC opponent.

Purdue got back on track last week after a frustrating loss to Northwestern the week before. The Boilermakers first defeated Iowa State on Monday, then took care of business against Alabama on Saturday.

Next up for Bordeaux is a titanic showdown against the best team in the country. The Boilermakers will look to beat the Arizona Wildcats when they face each other on Saturday in the Indy Classic.

Connecticut Huskies

The college basketball champions suffered their first loss of the season to Kansas before last week, but they are back on the horse with two wins over the past seven days. UConn defeated North Carolina State in the Jimmy V Classic, and followed that up with a win over AR-Pine Bluff.

But it doesn’t get any easier for the Huskies this week. UConn will face Gonzaga in the Continental Tire Seattle Tip-Off this week, a game that both the Huskies and Bulldogs would like to have a feather in their cap.

Baylor Bears

Baylor only had one game to worry about last week. The Bears cruised to victory during it, defeating the Seton Hall Buccaneers during a Big East-Big 12 battle.

At 9-0, the Bears look like a true contender through the first two games on their schedule. They will have some tough games ahead of them, starting with Michigan State on Saturday.

Marquette

After falling to Wisconsin, Marquette rebounded nicely over the past week. The Golden Eagles defeated the Texas Longhorns and Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively.

It will be a little easier for Marquette, as they will only play one game. They will face St. Thomas (MN) on Thursday, looking to move to 9-2 on the season in the process.

Creighton Blue Jays

Creighton moved to 8-1 on the season with a win over Central Michigan last week. The Blue Jays defeated the Chippewas by 45 points in an impressive defeat, and looked like their true selves.

This week, Creighton will begin its schedule with a matchup against UNLV in the Jack Jones Classic on Wednesday, before facing Alabama on Saturday in what would be a huge boon for the Blue Jays if they can win.

North Carolina stayed put after losing its only matchup last week. Fortunately, it was against one of the best teams in the country, and the Tar Heels’ good faith was enough to survive the loss to the Connecticut Huskies.

This week, North Carolina also only plays one game, but it’s a tough one. The Tar Heels will face Kentucky in the CBS Sports Classic on Saturday night.

This week, Tennessee will face Georgia Southern on Tuesday, which has yet to win a game this season. Next, they will travel to San Antonio for the Hall of Fame Series, where the Volunteers will take on NC State.
