Women's basketball plays its first home game in 39 days

  • The Snow College women’s basketball team will return to Ephraim for its first home game in over a month. The Badgers will face Yavapai College on Wednesday, tip-off is scheduled for 5:00pm inside the Horne Activity Center.
  • The Badgers are coming off the Columbia Basin Invitational tournament during which they have two victories against Walla Walla Community College (75-56) and host school Columbia Basin College (76-67).
  • The Badgers are currently on a four-game winning streak and have won seven of eight games dating back to November 17. The four-game winning streak is the longest since the Badgers won four straight games between Jan. 6 and January. 20, 2022.

The last time: The Snow College women’s basketball team picked up a pair of wins against Walla Walla Community College and Columbia Basin College in the Columbia Basin Invitational in Pasco, Washington. The Badgers picked up a 75-56 win over the Warriors followed by a 76-67 win over the Hawks.

The Badgers had back-to-back wins against Lamar Community College and Trinidad State College the previous weekend in the Lamar College Classic. The Badgers have now won four straight games, with seven of the last eight dating back to November 17.

The Snow College wasted no time in charging at the warriors. The Badgers matched their best offense in the first half of the season as they scored 40 points on 50 percent shooting from the field and 57 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

Defensively, the Badgers limited WWCC to just seven points in the first quarter while allowing just two field goals throughout the entire ten-minute period. Snow College led 40-21 at halftime.

The Badgers continued to shoot the ball well in the second half as they shot 57 percent from the field including going 2-4 from deep. Despite this, the Warriors were able to chip away at the lead a bit. Snow College was able to keep the momentum going throughout the fourth quarter and cruised to a 75-56 win.

Madison Hassino He led four Badgers in double figures with 17 points on 7-12 shooting. Emily Evans She narrowly missed a double-double as she finished with 15 points and nine rebounds. Snow College took control of the game in the third quarter as they shot 53 percent from the field and made three 3-pointers. They also shared the ball effectively as they dished out seven assists on nine of the field goals they scored in the period.

After the Hawks cut the deficit to three midway through the third quarter, the Badgers went on a 12-0 run to take a 53-38 lead. They would eventually take a 55-42 lead into the fourth quarter.

Snow College was able to maintain a double-digit lead for most of the first minutes of the fourth quarter. The Hawks eventually took a four-point lead with three minutes to go, but a quick 6-0 run put the game to rest and the Badgers cruised to a 76-67 win.
