Nothing OS 2.5 based on Android 14 is rolling out for the Nothing Phone 2

  • Nothing has started rolling out Nothing OS 2.5 based on Android 14 to Nothing Phone 2.
  • This update brings the Android platform version to Android 14, and includes a bunch of new features around the glyph interface, new widgets, and more.

The Nothing Chats-Sunbird debacle may still be fresh in everyone’s minds, but the company is moving forward with the rest of its plans. Nothing OS 2.5 based on Android 14 has been testing for the Nothing Phone 2 for a while now, and the company has now announced a wider stable rollout of the same.

None OS 2.5 out of the question.

It will be arriving to a phone (2) near you within the next few days. With new features and improvements to further enhance your experience.

Nothing Phone 2 users should expect the new update to arrive on their phones in the coming days. The Nothing Phone 1 open beta will also start over the next couple of weeks, so older phone users can also look forward to enjoying Android 14 on their devices.

Nothing OS 2.5 on Nothing Phone 2

In addition to upgrading the platform version to Android 14, Nothing OS 2.5 offers many great features. There’s now Google Calendar integration for the Glyph Progress bar, where the lights on the back of the phone will turn on and start a five-minute countdown to the next calendar event. There’s also a bunch of new widgets, although you’ll have to update the Nothing Launcher and Nothing Widgets app to the latest version on the Google Play Store after installing the firmware update.

    • ✨ The shared Home screen and Lock screen customization page has been redesigned and the wallpaper editing flow has been improved for a more comprehensive view of options.
    • 🌌 New Atmospheric Background Effect: Turn your background image into a dynamic wallpaper that brings color movement to your home screen. Seamless transition between lock and home screens.
    • 🔮 New glass wallpaper effect: Add a glass filter to give a unique look to your favorite wallpaper.
    • 🎨 Solid color wallpapers have been introduced for a cleaner home screen look.
    • ⚪ Monochrome color theme added in Primary Colors section.
  • Avatar interface
    • 📅 Glyph Progress integration for Google Calendar. Keep track of upcoming events with a 5-minute countdown on the Glyph interface.
    • ⏲️ Glyph Timer now supports time presets, allowing you to quickly set your desired duration.
    • 🔓 You can now access Glyph Timer directly from the lock screen without unlocking the device.
    • 🚀 Added an option to open the Glyph Timer popup by tapping instead of tapping to accommodate the quick settings widget.
    • 💫 Added a new Glyph animation when using NFC.
    • 🔄 Improved Flip to Glyph experience.
  • gesture
    • 💡Customizable double-click power button to quickly access the selected feature. Just head to Settings > System > Gestures.
    • 🤖 More lock screen shortcut options like: Do Not Disturb, Mute, QR Code Scanner, and Video Camera.
    • 📸 Quickly take screenshots with a three-finger swipe.
    • ✏️ New screenshot editor and menu, allowing more advanced editing and quick deletion features.
  • More improvements
    • 🌥️ Improve the weather app experience and improve notifications with weather alerts.
    • ⬅️ Updated the shape of the back gesture arrow to be more in line with the Nothing style.
    • 🔔 It is now possible to adjust the ringtone and notification volume separately, with an updated volume control interface.
    • ⚙️ Updated Quick Settings layout and support to show more device icons.
    • 📷 Improve camera stability.
    • 👾 Improved overall system stability for a more reliable and smooth experience.
  • New widgets
    • 🚶 Pedometer widget: Track your daily steps right from your home screen. Set goals and monitor your progress to stay motivated.
    • 🎵 Media Player Widget: Shows the currently playing song. Easily control your music on the go.
    • ⏳ Screen Time Widget: Monitor and manage your daily screen time to maintain a healthy digital lifestyle.
