Huskies in

F&M Invitation

LANCASTER — The Mifflin County indoor track and field team opened the indoor season Saturday at the No. 1 Franklin and Marshall High School Invitational in Lancaster. Forty-eight teams from Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware competed.

“We were pleased with how the boys and girls performed today,” Mifflin County coach Tamara Sechler said. “This early in the season, we’re excited to be able to get out there and compete. The goal is to run, jump and throw their best, and identify times and distances to improve on during the season.

“We have a lot of new kids who have never competed in track or an indoor track meet,” she added. “They faced the challenge of a long day with an early start and still did their best in setting their initial marks for the season.”

Some of the Huskies’ veteran athletes were able to start the year with top-eight performances at the meet, including the boys 4 x 800 relay of Caden Bell, Taylor Druckemiller, Isaac Parks-Gill, and Carter Smith, who won with a time of 8:37.53. Other place winners are:

Micah Simmons, third in the 60-meter dash, with a time of 7.79 seconds; Smith seventh in the 400 meters with a time of 53.33 seconds; Danielle Warfel, sixth in the 400 meters with a time of 1:05.04; Micah Simmons placed sixth in the 200 meters with a time of 23.33 seconds.
