The Games Awards 2023 are coming to a close, and although this was the last big video game event of the year, it gave us an insight into what’s headed our way in 2024. Along with taking a look at a bunch of games that we all knew existed, some Complete surprises.

The pre-show trailer kicked off with the world premiere of The Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons after it was leaked earlier this week. It will arrive on February 28, 2024 on PC, Xbox Series
Three more world premieres followed, starting with the next game from Daniel Mullins – Pony Island 2: Panda Circus, which will be released in 2025. It is a sequel to his 2016 game, Pony Island, and it looks like this game will be exactly the same. Mind Bending will feature SungWon Cho who has appeared in a variety of games, including FL4K in Borderlands 3 and God of War Ragnarök as Ratatoskr.
Next came the trailer for The Rise of the Golden Idol, which will be released in 2024 on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series If you haven’t played the original game yet, check out Eurogamer’s review of The Case of the Golden Idol.
The next game is a look at Usual June, developed by Finji, which will be released in 2025. This was followed by a selection of trailers, including Arcknights: Endfield, The Matchless Kungfu, Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader and Assassin’s Creed Nexus.
After this assortment, we took a look at the latest game from The Odd Gentleman, called Harmonium The Musical. This game will feature a deaf protagonist and will be released on Netflix Games and Game Pass.
Windblown came next offering a mix of gameplay and animation. From the creators of Dead Cells, Motion Twin, this game will enter early access for PC in 2024.
Thrasher, the new game from the creators of Thumper is up next, arriving in 2024.
Then we got a look at Persona 3 Reload, which will be released on February 2, 2024, followed by a look at the collaboration between Dave the Driver and Dredge, which will arrive on December 15, 2023. Next up is something I doubt no one expected – the reveal of World of Goo 2. And it will arrive This is in 2024, 15 years after the original was released.
The preview ended with a look at Metaphor ReFantazio – a new fantasy adventure from the makers of Persona 3, 4 and 5.
The game’s rewards started off right with the reveal of Exodus. Coming from Archetype Entertainment, this game stars Matthew McConaughey and, unlike the other sci-fi adventure released this year, will feature aliens.
Then came an unexpected surprise in the form of God of War Ragnarök – Valhalla DLC. This will be released for free on Tuesday 12 December on PlayStation 4 and 5, so you don’t have long to wait.
Next, we were introduced to the next game called Big Walk by the creators of Untitled Goose Game, Australian developer House House. If it catches your eye, you’ll have to wait until 2025.
Another round of trailers came next featuring Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, including a demo release on January 11, 2024, and Lego Fortnite.
Then, along with a music track from the game, came a trailer for Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2. Developed by Ninja Theory, it will be released in 2024 and will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
Ikumi Nakamura then took the stage to reveal her first indie title after leaving Tango Gameworks – Kemuri.
This was followed by a look at the upcoming new game from Moon Studios, creators of Ori, No Rest for the Wicked. If this action RPG piques your interest, be sure to tune in to the Wicked Inside Showcase on March 1, 2024.
Then Sega surprised everyone by revealing not one but five titles in development. The next several years would see the release of titles from Jet Set Radio, Shinobi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, and Crazy Taxi. There’s more to come too…
The next round of gaming has begun with a trailer for Dragon Ball: Sparkling! Zero, which will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series (I prefer One Piece personally.) A look at The Casting of Frank Stone — a solo collaboration between Supermassive Games and Dead by Daylight — came next.
Then there was a big change in tone when we got a look at Square Enix’s Visions of Mana, the first addition to the series in 15 years. We’ll see this fantasy adventure arrive in 2024 on PC, Xbox Series
Next came a trailer for Rise of the R&omarnin, which will be released exclusively on PlayStation 5 on March 22, 2024.
It’s time to reveal Hideo Kojima’s next project – OD. Working alongside Jordan Peele and a number of other unannounced creative partners, this horror project will be released on Xbox. The trailer features Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schiffer, and Udo Kier, but what it actually is remains a mystery.
It’s time to take a trip to the best theme park idea with the reveal of Jurassic Park Survival. Coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series
Next we returned to the world of Fortnite to take a look at Rocket Racing. This will be released later today, or depending on when you’re reading this, it will already be released. (Time is a funny thing.)
Then the black legend Wukong appeared next. Inspired by Journey to the West, we now know that this game will be released on August 20, 2024. Since Dusk Falls, which was previously an Xbox exclusive, has received confirmation of a PlayStation release date.
Next came a trailer for the co-op game Sucide Squad: Kill the Justice League, scheduled for release on February 2, 2024. We then got a look at the Whispers in the Wall expansion coming to Warframe on December 13, 2024. This was followed by a look at Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, Which will be released on February 13, 2024, and version 1.0 of Ready or Not, with this arriving on December 13.
Kinzera Tales: Zao came next. This game will be released on April 23, 2024 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series
Then we took a look at the new title from the creators of Life is Strange called Lost Records: Bloom & Rage. Arriving in late 2024, this game will see four women having to confront what certainly sounds like a supernatural event from their teenage years.
A trailer for The First Berserker: Khazan, a single-player action RPG, was shown before Final Fantasy fans thought they’d be getting a proper trailer, but it was actually the reveal of Apex Legends’ upcoming Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth event, which Starting January 22, 2024.
Next came a look at the next destination in Honaki: Star Rail – Penacony. We go from stars to sea next with a trailer for Skulls and Bones, which will be released on February 16, 2024. You can sign up for the closed beta, which will run from December 15 to December 18, now.
It’s vampire hunting time next with a brief look at Marvel’s Blade, a big reveal from Deathloop studio Arkane Lyon.
Next, it was time for some TV news with the announcement of Season 2 of Twisted Metal. Then came the cinematic presentation of the new game Last Sentinal from Lightspeed Studios.
We then got a look at Nexon Games’ The First Descendant in the summer of 2024. Another batch of trailers came after that starting with miHoYo and a trailer for Zenless Zone Zero, which will be released in 2024. A look at Mecha Break, which will be entering alpha testing Closed soon, then Warhammer 40,000 Space Marines will launch on September 9, 2024.
Then we took a look at GTFO: The Final Chapter, but developer 10 Chambers wasn’t done with that game as we took a look at their new game Den of Wolves. Exborne – a new open-world tactical shooter – followed and came next. If this game piques your interest, expect to learn more in 2024.
Critical Role’s Matt Mercer then took the stage to introduce Asgard’s Wrath as the voice of Loki, continuing his 2023 hobby of voicing video game villains. This game will be released on December 15.
Next came a slightly edited version of the Fallout TV series’ promotional video. The series will arrive on Amazon in April 2024. It was followed by a trailer for Palia, a fantasy game that will be released for free on Nintendo Switch on December 14.
However, we didn’t stick with this game for long, as Hello Games took the stage to give us news about their new title, Light No Fire. It promises to be a massively multiplayer open-world fantasy game set across an Earth-sized planet with dragons, and there’s currently no release date.
Next up was Frost Gaint Studios’ new release, Stormgate. It will enter Early Access in Summer 2024. We also got a first look at Exoborne, a new post-apocalyptic shooter from some of the developers behind Ubisoft’s The Division.
We got a selection of trailers for Guilty Gear Strive, which gave a look at the new DLC character, Elphelt Valentine, and the 3v3 player combat arriving in 2024. This was followed by a short trailer for ARK Survival Ascending.
Square Enix then returned to give Final Fantasy fans what they wanted with a look at Echoes of the Fallen, which was dropped during The Game Awards, and The Rising Tide DLC, which will arrive in Spring 2024, for Final Fantasy 16.
With Alan Wake 2 winning another award, it’s time for a trailer for The Finals. If you want to check out this battle royale, you won’t have to wait much longer – because it’s out now, and Bertie has given it a good look.
Then we got last Fortnite trailer ahead of Baldur’s Gate 3’s short trailer, teasing its delayed release on Xbox… now! You know, after watching the Game Awards, I started to think that Baldur’s Gate 3 might be pretty good…and then came a short trailer for Bellwrite, which will arrive in 2024.
The 2023 Game Awards world premiere was Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds. You can start killing monsters in 2025 and more will be revealed in the summer of 2024.
