Android 14 is coming to a Nothing Phone (2) near you 'in the next few days'

Just when you thought the unique-looking Nothing Phone (2) couldn’t get any hotter after a new record discount from Amazon yesterday, the oddly named company founded by Carl Pei has decided to drop a big last-minute Christmas gift on social media earlier today.

As fully detailed on the Nothing Community webpage, it’s extremely feature-packed Android 14 The update is rolling out to the popular 6.7-inch phone in stable form, although it may take a few days for all users around the world to be able to download and install the huge set of UI tweaks, performance improvements and security patches on their respective devices.
The official name of the update is Nothing OS 2.5, and while a lot of Google’s Android 14 revisions and functionality are clearly included… in there somewhere, the UK-based tech company is mainly focusing on highlighting its own proprietary improvements Additional customization options, new gestures, and new tools.

  • Added an option to open the Glyph Timer popup by clicking instead of tapping to accommodate the quick settings widget.

  • Added new Glyph animation when using NFC.

  • Quick Settings layout has been updated and supports showing more device icons.

  • Improved camera stability.

  • Improved overall system stability for a more reliable and smooth experience.

New widgets

  • Pedometer Widget: Track your daily steps right from your home screen. Set goals and monitor your progress to stay motivated.

  • Media Player Widget: Shows the song currently playing. Easily control your music on the go.
